WATER ALERT

The California State Water Resources Control Board (“SWRCB”) has adopted a Cease and Desist Order (“CDO”) which includes enforcement action against California American Water (“Cal-Am”) for failure to comply with Water Order 95-10 and Water Code section 1052.

The recently adopted CDO will have possible affects on the availability of water including: reductions in the amount of available water for existing and planned use, additional voluntary or mandatory water conservation measures, the banning of all new water connections, the impacting of property owners who have yet to receive permits from local building departments and water agencies and a moratorium on the granting of new permits. Inclusion of the Monterey County Supplemental Water Disclosure form is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

WATER RETROFIT REQUIREMENT

Each of the three water districts has the same water retrofit requirements, and each water district has its own water certification form. Please be sure to use the proper form. Every property (residential or commercial) in Monterey County that changes ownership is subject to the water retrofit requirements and a retrofit certification form must be completed and submitted to the proper water agency. If the property is in the unincorporated county (not within city limits) and you are unsure of which water district has jurisdiction, check the MPWMD Map, or contact the MPWMD at 658-5601 with the parcel number.
