CALIFORNIA REAL
ESTATE LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
"Continuing Education"
MANDATORY ETHICS TRAINING The National
Association of REALTORS has mandated that all
REALTOR members, in order to maintain their
association membership, must complete a
2½ hour
Code of Ethics training every four years.
Most of the MCAR
members are in compliance just by virtue of
being a new member within the past four years or
by license renewal within the last four years.
If you purchased the 45 hour continuing
education course offered at MCAR, you are in
compliance.
If you took your
renewal classes from any other source, you will
need to contact that company and find out if
their course complies with the NAR requirements.
Or, you may take the course free by going to
www.REALTOR.org/COEtraining .
NAR has not
instructed us on how they intend to monitor this
requirement but they have put the burden of
proof on the member. MCAR will track your
compliance. If you did take your license renewal
elsewhere or take the course on line, please let
us know so we can record your compliance.
Correspondence Courses You
can purchase from MCAR either the entire 45 hour binder,
or you can purchase each test separately. The tests can
be taken in one day or can be taken over a period of
time. This is open book testing.

Before the expiration date of
your first 4 years as a salesperson, you must
complete the 15 hours of the 5 mandatory
courses.
"The Quint"
The Quint Fundamental License Renewal
Package - $79.00
Before the expiration date of
your first 4 years as a broker, you must
complete the 15 hours of the 5 mandatory courses
plus at least 30 additional hours for a total of
45 hours of CE credit. (All salespersons and
brokers may also use this course.)
Fundamental The Quint Real Estate Basics Advanced License Renewal
Package - $72.00
This qualifies only for
subsequent license renewals for all salespersons
or brokers. (If you are renewing for the first
time, see either The QUINT or Fundamental
License Renewal.) The combined
Survey, Risk Management plus at least 36
additional hours for a total of 45 hours of CE
credit complies.
